Rajasthan overtakes Kerala and Taj Mahal

The survey conducted by the renowned international magazine ‘National Geographic Traveler?in its Oct/Nov 09 issue has rated the three tourism destinations from India are among the 133 “world Greatest Places?

Rajasthan has scored 19th ranking among the 133 “World’s Greatest Places?overtaking Kerala and Taj Mahal. Rajasthan State has been declared as best place to visit.

According to survey, Rajasthan is known for its mesmerizing palaces and forts, eulogized it as “India’s Tuscany? Tuscany is a region in Italy known for its beautiful landscapes and artistic legacy. It says that Rajasthan has a strong sense of cultural identity and remarkable appeal and mystique.

Taj Mahal, the 16th century Monument of Love, is ranked 30. The magazine says that the Agra area, the host to iconic World Heritage sites such as Taj mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, is in dire need of environmental planning.

Kerala’s back waters is ranked 23rd as the Lakes, rivers and canals in the southern India state, which visitors ply aboard houseboats, present a unique travel and cultural experience.
